Does exactly what it says on the tin, a massage deep into the tissues above the muscle but not the muscle itself. This can include myofascial release and trigger point work and is made up of long deep strokes like effleurage and petrissage.
This uses all forms of massage to achieve the desired result. This is an outcome based therapy used to relieve pain and increase range of motion. It is used to treat arthritis, headaches, frozen shoulder, migraine, whiplash, herniated disc, tennis elbow, repetitive strain injuries like carpal tunnel, fibromyalgia, stress, anxiety and depression just to name a few.
Its so good I named it 3 times, its long broad flowing strokes like power effleurage. Hands gliding over the skin to achieve a truly relaxing experience.
A deep tissue massage that also reaches the muscle. It will also involve different types of stretching and sometimes strengthening of the muscle. This is great for athletes both amateur and professional. A sports massage therapist will have have a greater understanding of anatomy and physiology.
Requires a much lighter touch with shorter strokes. The aim of this form of massage is to relax the client without overloading their tissues. You can achieve the same results as other forms of massage i.e. pain relief, improved sleep, decrease in nausea and improved mood by sinking into the tissues just a couple of layers deep creating an almost wave like motion in the surrounding tissues.
